National ATF Field Meeting - 22 October 2026 - Aber Falls - Free Volunteer Ticket
You are warmly invited to join ATF’s National Field Meeting at Aber Falls in Wales.
The Aber Falls is one of the most spectacular walks in Wales, famed for the Rhaeadr Fawr (“big waterfall”) that cascades through stunning scenery of mountains, woodland and grassland. The spray from the waterfall creates ideal conditions for a thriving ‘Celtic rainforest’ with a rich assemblage of mosses, liverworts and lichens.
Our field meeting will visit the spectacular waterfall and explore the surrounding woodlands, with a focus on the relict crab apple and hawthorn wood pasture. We will also explore how centuries of human habitation have shaped the landscape, including ancient settlements, grazing animals and traditional woodland practices.
We are delighted that Dr Jenny Wong, from Bangor University, will be joining us to discuss on-going research into the ecology and history of the site.
